5 yard Quilt from Houston Show

At Houston I picked up a 5 yard bundle which came with a pattern.  In bold letters the pattern yelled, "DO NOT WASH THIS FABRIC".  "DO NOT TRIM UP THIS FABRIC".

The reasons for the big bold warnings was because there is exactly enough fabric to make this twin sized quilt out of the 5 yards.  I mean- exactly.

I put huge feathers all over it and I'm doing the binding now.  My mom says it looks like my grandfather's old bathroom decor- you know, retro.  I'm pretty sure she meant it as a compliment, though.

Second Breast Cancer Quilt Complete!

I delivered the beautiful quilt to my local quilt shop which will be auctioned off for breast cancer research.  Each block was as beautiful and expressive as each of itAdd Images makers.  I chose an all over cabbage rose motif with leaves.  It turned out great!

Double Plum Pantograph

I pulled this beauty off the frame.

The quilt is for a teen in foster care. Isn't it fan and bright and happy?

I know it will bring joy and comfort to that teen.

Whenever I quilt a top I like to know something about the recipient.

I hope it makes her smile as much as it made me smile.

This quilt was made with a Double Plum Pantograph. It was quilted edge to edge at a $.02/sq. inch rate.

Tigger's Happy Dance

The Tigger quilt is done! I'm putting the binding on it now. This was peiced by a friend of mine for charity.

You can see the pattern I used for the blocks in the darker photo.

I hate that I have to alter the colors so the quilting pattern shows up on the computer screen. You can see the stitches much better in person.

I used a linked heart motif in the borders. This one was fun to do because I used some new tools I got for making my marking much easier.

Since I used one block pattern and one border I would classify this quilt as "Quilter's Choice" which is priced at $.025 an inch. The quilt is a baby quilt size. I haven't measured it as I quilted it for charity.

I mention the classification of quilting simply to give you an idea of what the "Quilter's Choice" quilting would look like.

Some little kiddo is gonna love their new Tigger Quilt!

I'm told it is a salad dish.

Tonight I needed an oval, egg shape for a motif I was stitching on a challenge quilt for my online guild. I dug around in the china cabinet and came up with this weird glass cresent thing and it worked perfectly!
My mother informed me it is a salad dish designed to hug the curve of a dinner plate. Gotta love using something old for something new.

Generally I wouldn't do a motif as intricate as this on a scrappy quilt. However, I took the opportunity to play a bit. I had received a trial spool of variegated (multi-colored) thread called Lava from Superior Threads. It worked great with the hot colors in my prism quilt.

I used some muslin on the back and blue in the bobbin. You can clearly see all my stitches on the back. I designed the motif and everything was done freehand. Each block's motif was rotated 90 degrees so that they all interlock.

It was fun! Now I just need to put the binding on. I think I'll use a yellow batik since I don't have enough of the border fabric.

Prism top done!

I finished the Prism quilt top today! It was done in all batiks and completely from my scrap drawer. It feels so great to have reduced my scraps while creating this beauty. I've got some variegated King Tut thread on order and I'm planning on using an edge to edge pantograph on it.

Here's some fun furry friends lounging about in the house today. Have a wonderful day!
